Love Hate Relationship– My Daily Battle

Early mornings are so wonderful aren’t they?  There is a glistening peace that settles over the world in the early hours, when only the birds are awake.  You don’t have to rush around to be anywhere (because everyone else in their right mind is asleep) and it seems to add extra hours to the day that seemed to not exist before.  However, after a few of these wonderful early mornings in a row you (and by you I mean me, naturally) notice yourself yawning in the evenings, not at your usual hour of 9 or 10 o’clock but at your forsaken childhood bedtime of 7:30.  ‘Bah!’ You exclaim.  ‘There’s no way I’m going to bed at this time.  I’ll stretch it out to 9:30 so it’s still an early-ish night, but at least it’s a respectable bedtime for an adult.’  This seems to work for a couple of nights, but the danger therein, is that when the trusty alarm rings at 6 o’clock the next morning, there is no way on earth you are budging from your warm and inviting bed to start your day.  What follows is a deadly cycle of alarm and the snooze button that inevitably means that you get nothing done that you actually wanted to do in that time, you don’t get any extra rest anyway, and you’re still rushed to try and get where you need to be later in the day.  Yet, for some reason, when the yawning starts the next night, do you (again I mean me, but I’m sure you do it too) learn your lesson and embrace your 8 year old bed time of 7:30? Of course not!

I love my fresh, relaxed early mornings, but I hate waking up for them.

(This was written from my bed, an hour after I was supposed to get up…)

procratiwriting

Procrastiwriting.  It’s not a word, but it IS a very real concept. In fact, it’s what I’m doing right now.  I have a biomechanics exam in a very short period of time and instead of studying, I’d rather much rather write about how I’m not studying… or should be studying.

It made me think of what I do to procrastinate.  Have you ever noticed that your house gets  very clean when there’s something that you don’t want to do.  Unless you’re trying to avoid the housework of course!

My favourite things to do when I don’t want to do something:

1. Clean

2. Bake

3. Exercise

4. Exercise my puppy

5. Make a list of things to do

6. Write blog posts.
